Used Boats on the Sunshine Coast, Sold and Serviced From One Buderim Yard
Dolphin Marine has sold and serviced boats on the Sunshine Coast for more than 25 years, all from one workshop and yard at Kelly Court in Buderim. Our used stock covers trailerable aluminium boats, fibreglass runabouts, cuddy cabins and cruisers, plus used motors and trailers, and every boat is inspected by our own technicians before it goes on sale. Come and look at the boat, the trailer and the service history in one visit, and talk to the people who will service it after you take it home.
Buying a used boat is a big decision, and the right boat depends on how you will use it. A family that wants to fish the Maroochy River on a Sunday morning needs a different hull from a crew heading offshore from Mooloolaba. Someone towing with a mid-size SUV has different limits again. We start every sale with those questions: what you will do with the boat, where you will use it, and what you will tow it with.
Those are workshop questions as much as sales questions, which is why our used boat sales sit beside a full service department, a parts counter and a chandlery on one site. Our technicians inspect every used boat we sell before it is listed, and the same team services it after you take delivery. When you buy one of our used boats on the Sunshine Coast, you keep dealing with the same people who checked it.

Why Sunshine Coast Boat Buyers Choose Dolphin Marine
We sell and service boats from one place: our workshop, parts counter, chandlery and used boat yard are all at 3/11 Kelly Court, Buderim. That means you can inspect a boat, bring your trade-in for an appraisal, sort out finance and insurance, and book the first service in the same visit, without being passed between businesses.
Our service and sales staff are factory trained and certified. Before a used boat is listed, it is inspected in our own workshop, and we tell you about anything that needs attention before you buy, not after.

Choosing a Used Boat for Sunshine Coast Waters
The Sunshine Coast gives boat owners three very different kinds of water within a short tow of each other: the sheltered Maroochy River, the Mooloolah River and Mooloolaba harbour, and the open ocean beyond the bars. Most buyers use more than one, so the first job is working out which one matters most to you. No single hull does everything well, and a boat that is ideal for the river can be the wrong choice for regular offshore trips.
Construction is the next choice. Aluminium boats (tinnies) are light, easy to tow and tough enough for river and estuary work, though they give a firmer ride in the chop. Fibreglass hulls are heavier and ride more smoothly through waves, but they need a bigger tow vehicle and more care of the gelcoat and interior. We talk through both with you before you commit, based on where you plan to launch and how often.
Towing and storage matter just as much. Your vehicle has to be able to tow and stop the combined weight of the boat, motor, fuel and trailer, and Queensland's towing rules apply. Many homes across the coast, especially on the Buderim ridge, have steep driveways and garages that were never sized for a boat with a bimini up. Measure the garage door height and driveway before you buy, and we will check the numbers against the boat on its trailer.
Salt is the constant. Boats that run on the ocean or sit near the beach need the salt rinsed off after every trip, and closer attention to anodes, trailer bearings and electrical connections. Whichever boat you choose, budget for regular outboard and trailer servicing so you are not left stranded at the ramp.
Every page below is served by the same Kelly Court yard and workshop in Buderim. Choose your suburb for local launch spots, storage tips and the questions buyers there ask us most.
FAQs
Where can I see your used boats?
At our yard, 3/11 Kelly Court, Buderim. The current stock list is on our website and can be filtered by make, length and price. If you want a particular boat's motor run up, or a technician on hand to answer engine questions, call 07 5479 0866 before you come so we can have the right person free. Saturdays are by appointment only.
Are your used boats checked before they are sold?
Yes. Our own technicians inspect every used boat before it is listed, and anything that needs attention soon is disclosed before you buy. You can see the boat, its trailer and its service records in one visit.
Should I buy an aluminium or a fibreglass boat?
It depends on where you will use it and what you will tow it with. Aluminium boats are lighter, easier to tow and suit river and estuary work, but they give a firmer ride in rough water. Fibreglass boats are heavier and ride more smoothly through waves, but need a larger tow vehicle and more care. Tell us how you plan to use the boat and we will show you hulls that suit.
Can you sell my current boat for me?
Yes. Our consignment service is at no charge to you. Bring the boat to us with a copy of its registration papers and we will copy your driver's licence. We then advertise the boat nationwide on a number of websites and handle the sale process. Many customers consign their old boat while they choose the next one.
Can you arrange finance and insurance for a used boat?
Yes. We arrange marine finance, boating insurance and warranty plans in-house. It is usually simplest to sort them out while the purchase is being written up, since we already have the hull and engine details on file.
What should I check before I buy a used boat?
Inspect the hull, the motor and its service history, the electrics and the trailer. Check that your vehicle can legally tow and stop the combined weight of the boat, motor, fuel and trailer, and never exceed the boat's carrying capacity. Budget for registration, servicing and safety gear such as lifejackets and an EPIRB. Our buying guide goes through each step.
Which areas do you serve?
We serve the whole Sunshine Coast from our Buderim yard. There are dedicated used boat pages for Buderim, Kuluin, Maroochydore and Alexandra Headland, each with local launch and storage advice.
